Dear Serrania Families:
As of Friday, Superintendent Beutner and UTLA continued to participate in negotiations in an effort to reach a contract agreement and avert a work stoppage by teachers. Should the two sides fail to reach a resolution, UTLA has stated that its members will strike starting Monday, January 14, 2019.
Should a strike take place, our school will be open and staffed to welcome students and ensure that their needs are met. Our leadership and support staff are committed to minimizing the impact of any work stoppage to our students and to providing the highest quality support to our stakeholders.
As you prepare to send your student to school on January 14, please note:
- All usual entry gates will be open in the morning and at dismissal. Please plan accordingly to minimize delays and ensure a safe drop off for your child.
- Transportation and meal services will be provided as usual, along with all after-school programs.
Please monitor KLCS-TV, lausd.net and the district’s social media accounts for timely updates. You may also call the LAUSD Parent Hotline at 213-443-1300, from 6AM to 4PM for the most updated information.
Once again, thank you for your continued commitment to your child’s success and for your support through this process. We look forward to seeing your child at school on Monday, January 14.
