AR Accelerated Reader

"AR is good for your brain!"

Accelerated Reader is...

an FOS funded on-line reading comprehension program that develops fluency, vocabulary, and a love of reading. Students read a book, independently take a quiz at school, and earn points for awards and prizes. Quizzes can be taken at school 7:40-3:30 in class, the library or in the computer lab only.

For summer AR quizzing ...

visit the Woodland Hills public library at 22200 Ventura Blvd and click here to take a quiz.  Library hours are M&W 10-8, Tu&Th 12-8 and F&Sa 8:30-5:30. You will need a library card and your AR log-in username and password.  Goals and grade level will be updated in August. Questions can be emailed to Heather Olson

(dbl underscore no spaces)

For AR quiz notification...

visit AR Home Connect. You will need your child’s username and password. You can set email preferences so quiz notifications come to you!

All 1st thru 5th grade students are automatically enrolled in AR.

Kindergarteners must be able to independently read multiple choice comprehension questions to be successful at quizzing. AR books should still be read as much as possible and can be quizzed on later in the year.

Finding books in the AR program...

Visit AR Book Finder ( to discover new books.

Sort books by reading level, topic, author, or title.

Choose an "Interest Level"

Select "Book Level".

Kinder would type 0.1 – 0.9 for their "ATOS book level".

First grade level is searched 1.0-1.9, etc.

Then choose a "Topic" and "Subtopic".

Search the LAPL Woodland Hills catalog before you visit to see if they have the books you're looking for.

A Reader today, a Leader tomorrow!

Happy Reading!
